Jacob McIntosh: I am a junior in the History Department at UNC Asheville. After my expected graduation I am planning on pursuing a Masters of History, ideally from UNC Charlotte. I am a private pilot and am working on further ratings to become a flight instructor, and later am hoping to end up working as an airline pilot. I have lived in Asheville for about 15 years now and call the mountains home.

Nell MacCarty: I am an economics major with a minor in history at the UNCA. I am from Big Horn, Wyoming and have loved having Asheville as my home for the last 4 years. Over the last semester, I was able to learn about Western NC history and ecology by helping create this website. For the first time, I was able to practice archival research while making the Chimney Rock digital scrapbook and the page about local history and legends. I am graduating this May and am taking a year off to travel, work, and figure out a master program that would be the right fit. I’m leaving the Asheville area with a new appreciation for its history, and of course, a love for Chimney Rock.

Christian Roughton: I’m a junior at UNCA pursuing my social studies teaching license. I was born in Atlanta GA, but moved to England for three years after that. I’ve been in Asheville five years now and I plan to join the peace Corp. with my partner after I graduate.

Carter May: I am a junior in the History Department at UNCA. I am working on a Legal Studies minor and hope to pursue law school after graduation. I am from the Raleigh area but have lived in Asheville for almost two years for school, I consider the mountains a home of mine though I have a lot to learn about them.
